Phenix
- Installation of Phaser with Phenix allows a choice of installation methods
- Precompiled executables for selected platforms
- Linux and MacOS
- Windows (limited functionality of other phenix components e.g. the phenix gui)
- Source installations
- Phubuntu
- Phubuntu is an Ubuntu Linux boot iso file is available from the Phenix website
- Burn this file to a DVD and use it to boot your computer and run Phenix and Coot
- This method of installation is very useful for running tutorials/workshops with participants using their own laptops as it circumvents the problems associated participants having heterogeneous operating systems and different Phenix versions installed

- To install new Phaser GUI
- Make sure you have write permission for the directory where ccp4 is installed
- Start the CCP4 GUI (by entering "ccp4i" at the command line)
- Select the "System Administration" pull-down on the right-hand side of the CCP4 gui
- Select "Install Tasks"
- In the new window, in the "Task archive" box, enter <path-to>/Phaser_MR_3.tar.gz. Note that the file must be called Phaser_MR_3.tar.gz − Do not rename it
- The details of the Phaser gui installation will appear in the boxes
- Click "Apply" at the bottom of the window
- Click "Accept" in the prompt box
- To uninstall previous Phaser GUI
- Make sure you have write permission for the directory where ccp4 is installed
- Start the CCP4 GUI (by entering "ccp4i" at the command line)
