- Installation from source is required to call Phaser from Python
- To install the current Phaser from source, use the phenix distribution of Phaser (free to academics).
- Source installation of Phaser-2.1 is available through CCP4
CCP4i
If you're installing under Windows, the ccp4i files are included in the installation wizard.
To install the CCP4 GUI compatible with Phaser-2.3 under linux:
- Download CCP4 interface for Phaser_MR Phaser_MR_3.tar.gz
- Download CCP4 interface for Phaser_EP Phaser_EP_3.tar.gz
- Download CCP4 interface for Phaser_NMA Phaser_NMA_3.tar.gz
- If you have CCP4-4.2 installed, download phaser-ccp4i-4.2-extras.tar.gz as well
To install the Phaser CCP4 GUI
The Phaser CCP4 GUI is designed to work with CCP4-5.0 or above, and requires some GUI utilities introduced in the 5.0 distribution. However, if you wish to use Phaser within CCP4-4.2, you can supply these utilities by downloading and installing phaser-ccp4i-4.2-extras.tar.gz, following the instructions given in that download.
The Phaser CCP4 GUI will work immediately with CCP4-5.0 or above, in which case the "extras" file should not be installed.
To install or uninstall the Phaser gui you must have write permission for the directory where ccp4 is installed
To install new Phaser GUI
- Start the CCP4 GUI (by entering "ccp4i" at the command line)
- Select the "System Administration" pull-down on the right-hand side of the CCP4 gui
- Select "Install Tasks"
- In the new window, in the "Task archive" box, enter <path-to>/Phaser_MR_3.tar.gz. Note that the file must be called Phaser_MR_3.tar.gz − Do not rename it
- The details of the Phaser gui installation will appear in the boxes
- Click "Apply" at the bottom of the window
- Click "Accept" in the prompt box
To uninstall previous Phaser GUI
- Start the CCP4 GUI (by entering "ccp4i" at the command line)
- Select the "System Administration" pull-down on the right-hand side of the CCP4 gui
- Select "Install Tasks"
- In the top pulldown, Select Run the Installation Manager to "uninstall an existing task"
- In the new Choose Task to Uninstall folder, choose "Phaser". If there is no task called Phaser, you have not installed the ccp4i GUI for Phaser manually.
- The details of the Phaser gui installation will appear in the boxes
- Click "Apply" at the bottom of the window
- Click "Proceed" in the prompt box
- Exit ccp4i
New GUI will not rerun jobs with old GUI
Keyword input has changed. You cannot (reliably) rerun old phaser jobs in the new GUI (not backwardly compatible).
